There are two things wrong with this. Firstly, listing hosts in the local
HOSTS file will prevent WINSOCK looking them up via a nameserver on the
net. While this may be desirable behaviour for some, if you have a
reachable nameserver, it is best to use it - in this case, just include
localhost, your IP address (if it is fixed) and the nameserver's IP
address in your HOSTS file.
Secondly, listing all the hosts you commonly use in HOSTS will still not
present them for selection in the terminal window. What I do is to create
a variety of CONFIGURATIONS in QVTNET.RC, something like the following ...
name=Unix
host=192.207.14.1
port=rlogin
username=nikki
name=Server
host=192.207.14.2
port=telnet
These are picked up by QVTNET, and offered as choices in the right-hand
configuration list.
I believe you can also use names rather than IP addresses, and rely on
Winsock looking up the names (in its local HOSTS file, or via a nameserver
on the network).

Subject: WfWG v3.11 + Netware v3.12 + Trumpet.....How?
I have been playing around for a couple of days trying to figure out how
to get the Trumpet winsock working with Windows for Workgroups v3.11
on a workstation using the ODI protocol stacking for Netware v3.12.
Has anyone gotten the Trumpet winsock to work with WfWg v3.11 and the ODI
setup of Netware?
WfWg by default preferrs to have the NDIS bindings, but Novell preferrers
the ODI stack....so, I'm trying to find a shim which will let WfWg recognize
the ODI-based packet driver.
Any help would be great!!
Thanks.
Mike
